Terms of Service

By opening, messaging, or otherwise using Calypso, you confirm that you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. Because Calypso runs on Telegram, you also agree to the following, which are incorporated by reference:

If you don't agree to these Terms, please don't use the Service.

Calypso is operated by an individual, not by a company and not by Telegram. Telegram provides the platform on which Calypso runs but is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the Service. Any questions, claims, or disputes about Calypso are between you and the operator.

Calypso is an AI companion you chat with through Telegram and the Mini App. Companions hold conversations, remember context you share, respond to photos, send messages of their own, and can help with everyday things like reminders and looking something up. Voice notes, calls and spoken replies are currently unavailable on all plans; purchasing a plan does not enable them. Existing voice eligibility under purchased plans is retained. Features, limits, companions, and available plans may change as the Service evolves.

You must be at least 18 years old to use Calypso. The Service is a companionship experience designed for adults, and in the EU, the UK, and Australia Telegram itself requires its users to be 18 or older. By using Calypso, you represent that you are at least 18 and legally able to enter into these Terms.

Every Calypso companion is an artificial intelligence and a fictional character. As part of the experience, companions speak naturally and stay in character, which can feel human. You acknowledge that a machine generates everything a companion says. AI responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or inappropriate, and a companion's expressions of feelings or memory are part of the fiction.

Calypso is for companionship and entertainment. It is not a substitute for professional medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or other expert advice, and it is not a substitute for human relationships or professional care. Calypso is not for emergencies. If you are in crisis or facing an emergency, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line. See our Companion Safety page for crisis resources and how Calypso handles safety-sensitive conversations. You are responsible for how you use the Service and its output.

You agree not to use Calypso to:

• Break the law, or infringe anyone's rights, including intellectual-property and privacy rights.
• Generate or solicit content that is illegal, abusive, harassing, hateful, or sexually exploitative, especially anything involving minors, which we report where required.
• Attempt to harm, overload, reverse-engineer, scrape, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure, or to extract its prompts or underlying models.
• Circumvent usage limits, plan restrictions, or payment, or resell the Service without permission.
• Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
• Build a competing product with the Service or use its output to train another AI model.

We may suspend or terminate access that violates these rules, with or without notice.

Calypso offers paid plans (such as Pro, Max, and Ultra), one-time top-ups, gifts, and in-app items (such as backgrounds), purchased with Telegram Stars, the only payment method for digital goods inside Telegram. Telegram processes all payments; we never receive your card or banking details. The app shows prices and plan contents before you buy, and you confirm your agreement to these Terms before completing a purchase.

• Subscriptions renew. Paid plans are recurring subscriptions billed in Stars for successive 30-day periods, and renew automatically through Telegram until cancelled. Cancel anytime in Calypso → Settings or in Telegram → Settings → My Stars; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current 30-day period, and you keep your plan until then.
• Free trial & usage limits. New accounts get a limited trial allowance, after which a paid plan is required. Paid plans include usage limits to keep the Service sustainable; we may apply reasonable rate limits and adjust limits or pricing with notice.
• Gifts. Gift purchases mint a redemption code for the recipient. Once a gift is redeemed and the digital benefit has been delivered, refund requests are reviewed under the policy below and any mandatory consumer rights that apply.

Pearls are promotional loyalty points that you can earn through eligible Calypso activities, such as tasks and referrals. You cannot buy Pearls. Pearls have no cash, Telegram Stars, cryptocurrency, or other external monetary value. They are bound to your Calypso account and cannot be transferred, gifted, sold, exchanged, or withdrawn.

Eligible digital items and the number of Pearls required are shown before you confirm a redemption. We may change the activities that award Pearls and the Pearl requirements for future redemptions with reasonable notice, but existing Pearl balances do not expire at launch. A completed redemption remains subject to the digital item's normal availability and to the account and acceptable-use rules in these Terms. A Pearl redemption is not a Telegram Stars payment and does not produce a Stars refund.

We may reverse Pearls that were granted more than once, granted by mistake, obtained through fraud or abuse, or linked to a purchase that is later refunded or charged back. If the Pearls have already been used, some future rewards may be withheld until that adjustment is settled; we do not make your spendable balance negative. Contact support@calypso.love if you believe an adjustment is wrong. We will review the source records and correct an error with a new ledger entry. Nothing in this section affects your statutory consumer rights, and we do not treat Pearls as money or property held in custody.

If a purchase goes wrong, we want to fix it. Send the bot the /paysupport command, or email support@calypso.love with your Telegram @username and roughly when you paid.

• If we can't deliver something you paid for, we refund the purchase in full to your Stars balance.
• Other refund requests are reviewed case by case; where we grant one, the Stars are returned to your Telegram Stars balance and the associated plan or item is revoked.
• Telegram's Stars Terms govern refunds of your original Stars purchase from Telegram. Stars bought from Telegram are generally non-refundable.
• If you believe we've refused a legitimate refund, Telegram provides a dispute path: find the transaction ID in Telegram → Settings → My Stars and follow the process in Telegram's Stars Terms.
• Nothing in this refund policy excludes or limits refund, cancellation, conformity, or other consumer rights that cannot lawfully be waived where you live.

You keep ownership of the messages and content you send to Calypso. To run the Service, you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, process, and transmit your content. This includes sending it to the AI and infrastructure providers described in our Privacy Policy solely to operate, maintain, and improve the Service for you. You're responsible for the content you submit and confirm you have the right to submit it.

You may use the text and images your companion generates for your own personal, lawful purposes. AI output is not unique; the Service may generate similar or identical output for other users. We provide it without any promise of accuracy or fitness for a purpose. The companions themselves (their names, personalities, appearance, and art) remain ours; generating content with a companion gives you no rights in the character.

The operator or its licensors own the Service, including its software, design, branding, characters, and the content we provide. The law protects those materials. These Terms don't grant you any rights to our trademarks or materials beyond using the Service as intended.

Calypso relies on third-party services (including Telegram, OpenRouter and the AI model providers it routes to, Cloudflare, PlanetScale, and Brave Search). We're not responsible for those services, and your use of them may be governed by their own terms. In particular, as Telegram's Mini Apps Terms make clear, Telegram is not affiliated with Calypso and bears no responsibility for it: any claim, dispute, or liability relating to the Service is directed to the operator, not to Telegram.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. You use Calypso at your own risk.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. To the extent any liability is found, it will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 50. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

You agree to indemnify and hold the operator harmless from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

You can stop using Calypso at any time. Delete or block the bot's chat in Telegram, and email support@calypso.love if you'd like your account and data deleted (see the Privacy Policy for how). We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as disclaimers, liability limits, and indemnification) will continue to apply.

We may update these Terms as the Service changes. When we make material changes, we'll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use Calypso after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the operator's place of residence, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any dispute will be resolved in the courts located there, unless mandatory law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
